Th.D. in Applied Theology

Outcomes. Saint Leo's Doctor of Theology in Applied Theology is a rigorous scholarly degree for those already shaping the Church and community: ministers, educators, chaplains, and professionals in publishing and nonprofit work. Coursework spans biblical, systematic, historical, pastoral, and moral theology, and culminates in comprehensive exams and a faculty-mentored dissertation applied to real questions in ministry and practice.
Flexibility. The 60-credit program is delivered online through a blend of asynchronous coursework and live seminar sessions, built for professionals who can't step away from their careers. One July residency at University Campus, near the Saint Leo Abbey, anchors your cohort in community at the end of the first year.
Support. You'll move through the program with a cohort of fellow practitioners, guided by faculty who mentor your research from coursework through dissertation. The application is free, no GRE is required, and there's no commitment until you register.
